Established and run by professional violinist Dr. Floyd Jackson, the “Free Music School” of San Pedro, Belize has been operating successfully for several years. The school provides inspiration, instruments, expert instruction, food and care to many children who can not afford them. The results are exceptional. Children enrolled in the school feel a sense of accomplishment while they develop their self esteem, relationships and musical talents. The school provides a class every Sunday, in which children are fed and educated in music theory and practise. The school relies solely on donations of instruments, sheet music, food, money and time so any assistance of this kind is warmly welcomed and always appreciated.
Introducing Our Music School
August 30, 2009 by freemusicschoolbelize
My wife and I are interested in moving to Belize. We are late seniors both with music backgrounds. I am currently playing in 6 different musical groups (semi-classical, dance combo and dixie. My wife is a vocalist. If we should make the move to Belize we would do so only if music could remain a major part of our lives. As a youth I studied to be a concert oboist. Presently I play sax’s and clarinet in several dance combo’s plus clarinet in both dixie groups and community concert bands. My wife does both solo and choral vocal work. What musical activities are available for late age but active seniors in Belize?
